Psychological Pain and How It Enslaves You

We use the term psychological pain to describe suffering, sorrow and other mental pains. Therefore, the first step in understanding this phenomenon requires us to understand the source of this pain. The mind, and solely the mind, is responsible for these reactions to life and living. Furthermore, mental pain is just a phantom illusion. Nevertheless, these phantoms usually overshadow each moment and seem very real.  Thus, a given depth of aware presence is beneficial before a person can acknowledge this pain of the mind.

A typical mind reaction, in example, is to blame everything around us for our difficulties. But actually, other people, situations nor the universe cause problems. It is primarily because we are not aware of our lack of presence. Let’s say that this is a lack of active conscious awareness. Most people are simply not aware enough to look inward instead of outward to understand their behavior. This psychological conditioning behavior is prevalent in most areas of our existence. Religion and beliefs are prime examples. Most people need, and want, a god to judge them, save them or punish them. It is a repetitive cycle that continually occurs throughout our history. However, humankind is awakening and slowly moving beyond such conditional behavior, dogmas, beliefs and thought patterns.

Psychological Pain During Our Evolution

Perhaps the search and expectancy for a god will someday become nothing but a vague memory during our species development. However, more relevant to our discussion is the adaptation to change during our evolution. This is a characteristic that is within us and all living organisms. We try to adapt. Or, if possible, we change, or at least, attempt to change the circumstances.  But, does adaptation have a down side? The answer depends on the species developmental common denominator. Here, I refer to the type of evolutional characteristic that is predominate in the species. Does the development have a strictly mental orientation? Or, is conscious evolution and aware presence the species prime developmental catalyst?

Mental conditioning developmental patternization most likely manipulates and restricts conscious aware presence. Thus, inner self-discovery, fulfillment and enlightenment remain in the seeming unreachable shadows of our existence.  And, this causes a psychological enigma that manifests as dissatisfaction, anxiety and fear in daily activities. Does this insight suggest that adaptation is good or bad? No, neither. I simply infer that a deeper level of conscious aware presence releases us from evolutional psychological baggage.

Stop Carrying Psychological Pain with You

Here is a suggestion for you. How do you finally discard the mental baggage that you hold onto each day? The practice of unconditional non-attachment is a process that nurtures awareness to the conscious presence of your being.

The mind interprets, assumes and defines. And, your lack of aware conscious presence results in conditional behavior. Additionally, you fail to realize that this behavior causes more and more confusion. Psychological frustration and suffering manifest due to your unconscious attachment to the mind’s behavior. However, active awareness to your relationship with the mind releases you from such behavior patterns. It is a practice that requires observation of your presence unbound by mental clutter. This allows a shift from unconscious mind clutter to pure and spacious conscious presence. This is very beneficial because then it is possible to bond with the presence of your being without mental distractions.
