A Relative Reality so What Is Real?

Relative reality as a discussion topic can be confusing when the mind uses too much energy thinking about reality. What is real? What is not real? Could and should we consider a relative reality to be fundamental to our existence?  We might even suggest that nothing is possible without reality. A third perspective is not to associate these two words with anything, whether we call something real or not. But, this might first seem derogatory to our understanding of reality. Another word commonly used for relative is relativism.

Relativism is the idea that points of view have no absolute truth or validity. They only have relative, subjective value according to viewpoint and circumstances. (Wikipedia) There are many understandings of relativism. The church; for example, considers any association with this concept to be a denial of absolute truth.

Reality is the state of things as they are, rather than as they may appear or might be imagined. (Wikipedia) Yes, we can accept this statement for practical day to day purposes. However, this definition has no true validity, consciously and spiritually speaking.  Is beingness possible as unmanifested and manifested energy? If yes, does the manifested have more reality than the unmanifested? And, vice versa? Or, is everything relative? Absolute truth is another type of reality that people often use. Here also, we can consider if absolute or even truth is actually an expression of a real reality. The Buddhist doctrine of The Two Truths offer insight into existence, reality and non-reality. This doctrine suggests that there is an ultimate truth and a provisional truth. Other terms for ultimate and provisional truth are transcendent absolute (non-duality) and the world of phenomena.

Reality and non-reality Reflect Your Act of Presence

We can express non-duality as the experience of liberation or self-realization. The opposite of this is the relative reality or an existence of illusions. This mind-imposed reality of illusions that nurtures such concepts as wants/desire, happiness/unhappiness and ignorance to the self.

A few key words to consider in the previous paragraph would be liberation, self-realization and ultimate truth. We could also add the word salvation to this list. But, do these words, ideas or insights explain reality or only valid that it is all actually relative? Is there a real absolute truth? No. What is the determining factor to any given outcome that unfolds. Everything reflects any given person’s aware or unaware observation of his or her presence. A person’s state of existence seems to have many levels depending on the focus or lack of focus to self-awareness. Furthermore, we could say that there is a frequency of unification that is vibrating energy.

Should we call this flowing state of being and non-being an absolute truth? Perhaps. We could. But, why? This unified dimension is universal. However, it is not necessary absolute. Reality is only a dream and absolute truth is only a vision. Up and down. In and out. Back and forth. Yes and no. Why and why not? Do these statements describe your version of reality? Realize and recognize that ultimately, everything is as real or unreal as you make it. Almost everything you experience is an objective reality. This is to say, you live according to what the mind tells you. Therefore, I give you a call to action. Focus on a state of beingness that acknowledges the simple presence of being as true/real without needing an objective reality.
